Three Words Per Tick

After you can easily keep the beat at two words for each tick with 100 percent comprehension, do three words for each tick.

After you start the beat timer by clicking on the link below, place your index finger under the second word on the line. As you hear the next tick, silently say the first three words to yourself.

After you hear the tick and silently say the first three words to yourself, slide your index finger from left-to-right and stop your index finger motion when your index finger is under the fifth word of the line.

That will place your index finger under the next three words of the line, if there are six words on the line. As you hear the next tick, silently say those three words to yourself.

If there are 5 words on the line, silently say the first 3 words on the line and then silently say the next 2 words on the line as you hear the next tick. This way, you will always start the next line by placing your index finger under the second word on the line as you silently say the first 3 words on the line.

If there are seven words on the line, silently say the first three words on the line. Then silently say the next three words on the line. Then, there is only one word left on that line. Silently say the last single word on the line as you hear the next tick.

This way, you will always start the next line by placing your index finger under the second word on the line as you silently say the first three words of the line.

Beat Timer

Press Play to Start the Timer for the Exercise

There are times when the last line of the paragraph has only one or two words on it. When the last line of the paragraph is shorter than a full line, continue to make the same complete index finger movement.

There will be no words under your index finger on the right side of the line. But you will be able to keep the beat much easier, if you do not change your hand motion because of a short line.

After successful completion of this Sub-Vocalization Exercise, you are mentally prepared to be able to break through the Sub-Vocalization Barrier. One of the higher mental stretches will take you through the Sub-Vocalization Barrier and beyond.

After you can easily keep the beat at three words for each tick with 100 percent comprehension, move to the 6 Step Warm-Up Procedure and never run this exercise again.
